多くは乾燥した芒（とげ状の突起）を生じる。これらは皆、吐剤や下剤を処方すべき兆候である。この熱による黒苔とは区別して論じ難い。また炙った鶏肝のような状態は、血液が腐敗し胃腸が潰爛する兆候である。麹苔は血液が酸敗して腐穢する兆候である。《酸敗はゲールデル（Görder）による》これをもって舌は血液の状態と、胃腸の内面とを診る重要な器具である。
第十六章 発熱
発熱が続いて昼夜間断なくとも、大体平明（夜明け）には少し減じ、それが減じない者もまた少しの進退がないことはない。激しい者は昼夜二回発熱し、昼は午前に始まり午後に盛んになり、夜は初更（午後8時頃）に始まり三更（午前0時頃）に盛んになる。
式建吉《人名》の血論に、およそ平全無病の人において、その血行は朝は緩やかで午後から夜半に至る間はやや速く、およそ一分時刻に七八動の差があると言っている。常人でさえ血行に昼夜このような差があれば、熱を患う人が午後から夜半に激しくなる理由である。
第十七章 尿の所見

In severe cases, fever occurs twice daily: during the day it begins in the morning and intensifies in the afternoon; at night it begins at the first watch (around 8 PM) and intensifies at the third watch (around midnight).
In the blood theory of Shikenkitsu 《personal name》, in generally healthy people without disease, blood circulation is slow in the morning and somewhat faster from afternoon to midnight, with a difference of about seven to eight beats per minute. If even healthy people have such differences in blood circulation between day and night, this explains why people suffering from fever become more severe from afternoon to midnight.
Chapter 17: Urine Examination
The turbidity of sediment in urine varies according to the severity of the disease, and there cannot be no difference in quantity and concentration. In those whose disease progresses, the color resembles beer, with white sediment settling in a quality similar to dissolved glue, accumulating to about an inch. There are also those with urinary retention who have difficulty urinating, those with hot urine and dribbling, and those whose urine immediately clears while sediment immediately
