現代語訳
初起および軽症（症候については第四章第八章に出ている）には左の処方を与えるのがよい。
第一 揮発飲（ヴィンケル突方）
ヴァレリアナ根 三銭（春女郎花、気味形状これに類する）
右の一味を水一合五勺で、強火にかけて四、五回沸騰させ、鍋から下ろして少し安定させた後、アンモニア・アセチクム二分、リクオル・アノダイン・ホフマン一分を加える（ホフマン薬の服用量は昼夜を通じて五分を度とする。碩按：西医のホフマン薬は止痛水剤として創製されたもの）。温かいうちに頓服し、昼夜に四、五服する。また兼ねて接骨木花（エルダーフラワー）の煎湯にブドウ酒を加えたものを用いる。服用後は温かく覆って眠らせる。これが一定の治法である。

For initial onset and mild symptoms (symptoms are described in Chapters 4 and 8), it is advisable to administer the following prescription:
First Formula: Volatile Decoction (Winkel's Formula)
Valerian root - 3 sen (similar in nature, flavor, and form to spring patrinia)
Take this single ingredient with 1 gō 5 shaku of water, boil vigorously over high heat for 4-5 boilings, remove from the pot and let settle briefly, then add 2 bu of ammonium acetate and 1 bu of liquor anodynus Hoffmanni (the dosage of Hoffmann's drops should be 5 bu over day and night. Translator's note: Hoffmann's drops in Western medicine were created as a pain-relieving aqueous preparation). Take while warm as a single dose, 4-5 doses day and night. Also use concurrently elderflower decoction with wine added. After taking, cover warmly and let the patient sleep. This is the established treatment method.
