碩（訳者）がかつてこの疫病の症状を理解していなかった頃、患者の口舌がともに乾燥しているのを見て、しきりに麦門冬・桔梗・甘草のような薬品を用いたところ、咽喉がますます不利となり、ひどい場合は沸湯を好むようになることもあった。しかし当時はその不利が本来神経の不調により、粘痰が食道に絡むことから来ることを理解していなかったので、適切な薬品を得ることができなかった。近来、刺激性があり痰を稀薄化する能力のある貝母を用い試したところ、良効を得ることが多い。今ここに掲げ出すのは、わずかに浅い経験を同志に分かつ意図のみである。
兼用丸剤（自験処方）
麝香 上品五厘、竜脳 上品七厘、阿片 上品一厘五毛、砂糖 一銭
右を分けて十二丸とし、毎時湯液で一丸を送り下す。
漏汗が止まりにくい者は、麝香を去り竜脳を倍にする。肌膚が乾燥する者は、竜脳を去り麝香を倍にする。昏々として覚醒困難、あるいは腫れ上がる兆候がある者は、阿片を去り白芥糊を足裏に貼付する。

Musk - high grade 5 rin, Camphor - high grade 7 rin, Opium - high grade 1 rin 5 mō, Sugar - 1 sen

For those with persistent sweating that is difficult to stop, remove musk and double the camphor. For those with dry skin, remove camphor and double the musk. For those who are stuporous with difficulty awakening, or who show signs of swelling, remove opium and apply white mustard paste to the soles of the feet.
In severely ill patients, the spirit sinks and pathogenic influences become adhesive, gradually showing signs of paralysis in various internal and external organs.
