第三十章 竜脳の気味効能
竜脳の気味は苦辛で、風化揮発し、生動を健やかにし萎薾を固め、亡脱を保ち腐敗を挽回する功がある。また麝香と相去ること遠からず。阿片と配合すればよくその足らざるところを補い、その至らざるところに達する。ただ竜脳には異味があり、常服の薬ではない。量が重ければ胃を害する弊害がある。眩暈嘔吐の人はあるいはこれを禁ずる。
第三十一章 竜脳の主治
脈が細弱にして力なく、腠理弛緩開放し、汗が止まらない者に奇効がある。また内部の麻痺、形容憔悴、あるいは虚煩で眠ることができない者にも験がある。
脈が堅にして弱からず、腠理乾燥して汗なき者には、竜脳はあるいは害がある。ただし麝香がこれを主治する。これが竜脳と麝香の異なるところである。
竜脳の気味は涼にして苦辛、その香は愛すべきである。蓋し竜脳はその原質に乾固揮発の塩、油、脂もなく、ただただ天然一個の揮発香竄の樹脂にして、甚だ火を受けやすい。これをもって焮腫性の熱を挿む者においては、微量にあらざれば害をなすこと多し。碩（訳者）が平日これを諸般の熱病に験するに、

However, borneol has a peculiar taste and is not a medicine for regular use. When the dosage is heavy, it has the harmful effect of irritating the stomach. Those with dizziness and vomiting may be prohibited from using it.

For those with fine, weak, and powerless pulse, relaxed and open interstices with unstoppable sweating, it has miraculous effects. It is also effective for internal paralysis, haggard appearance, or deficiency restlessness preventing sleep.
