このにう【「によう」の「よ」の脱落か】はうのすみところことばにもを
よばれすなか〳〵申もをろかなりさて
女はうの申けるは一じゆのかげにやどり
一がのながれをくむ事もみなこれたし
やうのゑんそかしましてやはるかのなみ
ぢをはる〳〵をくらせたまふ事ひとへ
にたしやうのゑんなればなにかはくるし
かるべきわらはとふうふのちぎりをもな
したまひておなじところにてあかし
くらし候はんやとこま〳〵とかたりける
うらしまたらう申けるはともかくもおほせ
にしたがふへしとそ申ける
現代語訳
この入道の住む所は、言葉にも及ばず、なかなか申すのも愚かなことです。さて女房が申すことには「一樹の陰に宿り、一河の流れを汲むことも、みなこれは前世の縁でございます。ましてや遥かな波路を遠く越えていらっしゃったことは、ひとえに前世の縁であれば、何か苦しいことがございましょうか。私と夫婦の契りをもお結びになって、同じところで明け暮らしなされませんか」と懇ろに語った。
浦島太郎が申すことには「ともかくもお言葉に従いましょう」とそう申した。
英語訳
This dwelling place of the sea spirit is beyond words, and it would be foolish to even attempt to describe it. Then the woman said, "Even taking shelter under the same tree or drinking from the same river stream—all of these are due to karmic connections from previous lives. How much more so your crossing the distant waves to come here—this is entirely due to karmic destiny from past lives, so what hardship could there be? Would you not make a marriage vow with me and spend your days and nights together in this same place?" She spoke earnestly and intimately.
Urashima Tarō replied, "In any case, I shall follow your wishes."
