安政三辰正月水戸御藩中金子健四郎年礼と
して江戸元矢の倉福田半香宅え参り家来清
水覚次郎鼎斎を打果候ニ付口上書之写

去ル十七日私儀用事有之元矢の倉福田半香
と申者方へ罷越候所折節村松町住居生方鼎
斎と申もの参り合雑談之砌鼎斎儀私え対し
小児の如くと申聞候付私ニおゐても鼎斎義
を小僧と戯候得は鼎斎憤候様申聞候間小児
小僧何れも同様之論ニ可有之候處彼此鼎斎
心底ニ不落様相見候所半香義私え相詫候様
申聞候ニ付素より前件の論ニ而立腹致候義
も有之間敷得ト示談可仕旨申聞候得ハ又候
半香私義ニ強而帰宅致候様申聞候間左様申
義を推倒【見せ消ち「し」】候付何レも右之次第柄ニ付手向等仕
候所存も無之候間手を放候様申聞居候内私
家来清水覚次郎儀も馳付引分何れお手を放

安政三年辰年正月、水戸藩中の金子健四郎が年始の挨拶として江戸元矢の倉の福田半香宅を訪問し、家来の清水覚次郎が鼎斎を殺害した件についての口上書の写し

去る十七日、私は用事があり元矢の倉の福田半香という者の所へ出向いたところ、折よく村松町在住の生方鼎斎という者が来合わせ、雑談の際、鼎斎が私に対して「小児のようだ」と申したので、私も鼎斎のことを「小僧」と戯れに言ったところ、鼎斎が憤慨した様子で申したため、「小児」も「小僧」もいずれも同様の意味であるはずなのに、あれこれと鼎斎の心に納得がいかない様子が見えたところ、半香が私に詫びるよう申したので、元々前述の議論で立腹するようなこともないはずだから示談にしようと申したところ、また半香が私に無理に帰宅するよう申したため、そのような申し分を押し倒したので、いずれにしても右の次第により手向かいなどする考えもないので手を離すよう申していたところ、私の家来清水覚次郎も駆けつけて引き分けに入り、いずれも手を離したところ、引き分けの際に私の髪が乱れたのを覚次郎が見つけ、いかにも立腹している様子であったが、双方引き分けて

A copy of the oral statement regarding the incident in the first month of Ansei 3, year of the Dragon, when Kaneko Kenshiro of the Mito domain visited the residence of Fukuda Hanko in Motoya-no-kura, Edo, for New Year's greetings, and his retainer Shimizu Kakujiro killed Teisei.

On the 17th, I had business and went to visit one Fukuda Hanko in Motoya-no-kura. It happened that one Ubukata Teisei, a resident of Muramatsu-cho, was also present. During our casual conversation, Teisei said to me that I was "like a child," so I also playfully called Teisei a "little boy." Teisei appeared to become angry at this, so I said that "child" and "little boy" should mean the same thing, but Teisei seemed unsatisfied with this reasoning. Then Hanko suggested that I should apologize, so I said that since there was no reason to be angry over the aforementioned discussion, we should settle it amicably. However, Hanko then insisted that I should leave immediately. Since I rejected such demands, and as I had no intention of fighting over this matter, I was saying we should let go of each other when my retainer Shimizu Kakujiro also rushed over to separate us.
