　　　　いとのかす〳〵齢のへなん

　　八代姫君様
　　　常陸の国より九十歳
　　　　あまりなる女のおれる
　　　　　布を奉りけるにいとも
　　　　　　めつらしとて自らにも
　　　　　　　歌よめとのたまひけれハ

現代語訳

ということであったので
「仙人のように百歳近くまで年を重ねて、霞のような衣をどれほど多く織ったことでしょう」

松姫君様
「常陸の国の人より九十歳余りの人が織った布を父君に献上したところ、これについて自ら歌を詠めとおっしゃったので」
「九十歳にまた一年を重ねて、織物に慣れ親しんだ糸の数々のように、長寿を重ねていくことでしょう」

「常陸の国より九十歳余りの女性が織った布を献上したところ、とても珍しいことだとして、自分にも歌を詠めとおっしゃったので」

英語訳

And so it was said:
"Like an immortal sage who has lived nearly a hundred years, how many robes of mist-like cloth must she have woven"

"Adding yet another year to ninety, like the countless threads familiar with weaving, may her longevity continue to accumulate"
