The above are the duties of the shrine affairs deputy.
Withdrawal of both officials at Kifune
The ceremony involves withdrawing from the Eastern Crossing Hall, lifting the hem of robes, and making pilgrimage rounds to the shrines of Wakamiya, Shingu, Kataoka, Sawada, Nara, Ota, and others. Most importantly, they make pilgrimage rounds to the small shrines along the route and lodge overnight.
After a brief rest [Ruby text: Kifune?], both officials [Ruby text: ?] change into purified garments and proceed to Kifune [Note: Most importantly, one person is summoned to accompany them, carrying the ceremonial garments of both officials. A person from Kifune Valley serves as a walking attendant. Now, people from Hiiragihra consult together and come forth].
However, for the divine offerings, the inner sanctuary portion and small shrine portion are placed in one vermillion-lacquered bitter container, and two porters transport them to Kifune. For the outer sanctuary divine offerings, as usual, one porter from Kifune Valley brings a small vermillion-lacquered bitter container, receives it at the offering hall, and transports it to Kifune.
The ceremony first involves proceeding to Kajitori Shrine to prepare divine offerings, then to Ume-no-miya, then to Shiraishi, then to Shirahige and other shrines, where each time the tōne performs the three-inch serving. However, this ceremony is the original ritual for preparing and offering when descending to these four shrines. Nevertheless, now it is mostly prepared and offered at the beginning.
They arrive at the miko house [Note: Announce to the guard station], don court dress, and proceed to the worship hall.
The ceremony involves proceeding from the miko house via the veranda, taking their seats, completing the seated bow, and instructing the tōne that the divine offerings should be performed.
Tooth-hardening ceremony, next the miko passes the sacred key to the celebrant, next rising from their seat [Note: The sacred key is held alongside the ritual tablet. However, there is no seated bow], next proceeding to the earthen platform for one bow, ascending the great platform for one bow, and opening the sacred doors [Note: Prior to this, the negi and others show their readiness]. Each moves from their seat and prostrates, then the negi rises and proceeds to the earthen platform, both officials stand side by side for one bow, ascend the great platform for one bow, and enter the inner sanctuary [Note: Advancing, retreating, lifting hems, etc., are as usual]. [Note: The negi proceeds to the base of the stairs, the celebrant descends the stairs and waits at the celebrant's position] [Written in red: From negi to celebrant's position].
[Note: At this time the negi advances, stands alongside, and bows] [Written in red] One bow, then prepares the left and right sacred hollow bowls on the sacred offering table [Note: Two hollow bowls are always positioned on the left and right of the sacred beach platform; after the divine offerings are removed, they are placed back in their original location].
Next the miko [Note: Wearing chihaya with loose hair] proceeds to the great platform, then rolls up the sacred curtain and advances the divine offerings. First toso [Note: Served in earthenware], the order is:
First: Sacred chopsticks and sacred rice, Second: Rice cakes [Note: Two] and shiitake leaves [Note: Two], Third: Sea bream [Note: Two fish], ray [Note: Three pieces], horse mackerel [Note: One] [Note: These three types are layered in offering].
The tōne brings these forth and passes them to the head shrine maiden, who transfers them to the negi, who takes them and directly offers them to the hollow bowls. Next sacred rice [Note: One], Second: Rice cakes [Note: Two] and shiitake leaves [Note: Two], Third: Sea bream [Note: Three pieces], ray [Note: Three pieces], Fourth: Sacred sake. The celebrant takes these and offers them to the celebrant's position.
