Draft of Prayer Words (Private record, possibly added by Akinao) Humbly and reverently before the sacred presence of the great Ota Daimyojin, I speak with utmost fear and reverence. Today, the current protectors have respectfully prepared and offered sacred provisions. May this shine within your divine heart. May you protect eternally with heaven's longevity and earth's permanence, fulfilling all wishes. Having concluded these words of farewell, I humbly and reverently pray that you protect and bless the current protectors with freedom from disaster, long life, fulfillment of all wishes, as guardian of night and day. Bi-annual Great Purification (However, on Horse Day in the 4th month, Tiger Day in the 11th month) First, at the Hour of the Rabbit, the shrine deputy (in purification robes and hakama) and four purification attendants (in purification robes - these four are selected by Taju from those designated several days prior, appointed by the Administrative Officer in order of age) assemble at the bathhouse. Afterwards, they approach the shrine passing through the first torii, second torii, tower gate, middle gate, etc., enter through the side door, ascend to the feast hall and take their seats (facing north with east as superior, taking seats according to proper seating order). The shrine deputy ascends to the connecting corridor (the place where shrine officials ascend and descend during daily offerings), proceeds to the main shrine earthen platform for one bow, ascends to the great floor for one bow, removes the left and right offering tables (first the chief priest's side, then the ritualist's side), descends the stairs and carries them to the temporary shelves at the western offering hall. After washing and purifying with water from the sacred Monoimi River, they are placed in their original location. Next, ascending to the auxiliary shrine, the offering tables are removed and carried to the temporary shelves at the western offering hall, the procedure being the same as before for washing and purification, and these too are placed in their original location (as before). Next, they go to the sacred registry building (though sometimes this is done after the purification). Next, the purification attendants (wearing underlayers) go to the wooden temporary shelves of the western offering hall and take two straw brooms (one with a white wooden handle, one without a handle, kept beforehand on the shelves, provided by the minor deputy). The two senior members climb ladders, take the brooms and sweep clean the roofs of both halls (first the main hall, then the auxiliary hall, with one person working at a time). Next, they proceed to the main shrine...
