ばかり戌亥の沖合いに錨を下ろし、小船二艘を降ろしてその島を目指して漕いで来たので、三人とも大いに喜んだ。近くに来るので満次郎が穴の方に招いたところ、船もまたこれに従って回って来た。さて、この船一艘に乗り組んでいるのは六人ずつで、内五人はアメリカ人にて一人は黒人である。三人の者たちは喜びに堪えず、指差して寝ている者を見せたところ、異国人はうなずいて、病人二人を抱え上げて船に乗せ、三人の者も船に飛び乗って本船の方へと向かった。
