現代語訳
天明2年（1782年）壬寅12月13日、伊勢国白子の神昌丸の船頭大黒屋幸太夫と水主磯吉が同所を出帆して駿河国の沖から吹き流され、同3年卯7月20日にロシアの属島アリューシャンという地に漂着し、諸島を経巡ってロシア国の都へ出て女帝に謁見し、寛政4年9月3日蝦夷地の根室という地に送り返され、同5年癸丑9月18日に富来で上覧に供された。
寛政5年丑年、奥州宮城郡寒風沢浜の若宮丸乗組16人が同年11月27日に難風に遭い、ロシア国へ吹き流された。その16人のうち左平、津太夫、茂平太、十良、文化2年乙丑年に長崎表へ送り届けられた。
右の漂流談一巻を好古の友人に贈り、売買を禁じ深く秘蔵する。

重助は異国にて身まかり、寅右衛門はオアフ国に留まり、内三人が帰国に及んだ。
英語訳
On December 13th, Tenmei 2nd year (1782), year of the Water Tiger, the ship captain Daikokuya Kodayu of the vessel Shinsho-maru from Shirako in Ise Province, along with sailor Isokichi, departed from that place and were blown adrift from off the coast of Suruga Province. On July 20th of Tenmei 3rd year, they drifted ashore on a Russian territory called the Aleutians, traveled through various islands to the Russian capital where they had an audience with the Empress, and were sent back to a place called Nemuro in Ezo on September 3rd, Kansei 4th year. On September 18th, Kansei 5th year of the Ox, they were presented for imperial inspection at Fukiage.
In Kansei 5th year of the Ox, sixteen crew members of the Wakamiya-maru from Samukasawa beach in Miyagi County, Oshu, encountered a storm on November 27th of that year and were blown to Russia. Of those sixteen people, Sahei, Tsudayu, Moheta, and Juro were delivered to Nagasaki in Bunka 2nd year of the Wood Ox.
This one volume of drift tales is presented to friends who appreciate antiquities, with sales prohibited and kept deeply secret.
