ふるさとへ かよふおもひの
かひもなく わかうへをきし
ふるさとの のきのしのふや
ひめこまつ おひゆくすゑを
いつかみむ たゝあけくれて
こひしさの そてにも身にも
あまりつゝ さためなき世は
中々に またはたのみの
ありあけに うちもねられぬ
よる〳〵は いのちつれなく
なからへて あひみる事も
ありやせん おもひきえなは
なきあとに もしもたつぬる

人あらは なからんのちの
かたみともなれ
かやうにふてもしとろにかきみたし
給ふひめ君は神な月のすゑつかた
よりたえぬ御物おもひにしつみ
給へは月日のゆくにそへていとゝ
御心ちもなやましくなりまさり
給て一かたならぬ御おもひなれは御
いのちもあやうくみえさせ給ふ

故郷へ 通う思いの
甲斐もなく 我が上を着し
故郷の 軒の忍草や
姫小松 生い行く末を
いつか見ん ただ明け暮れて
恋しさの 袖にも身にも
余りつつ 定めなき世は
なかなかに またば頼みの
有明に 打ちも寝られぬ
夜々は 命つれなく
長らえて 逢い見ることも
ありやせん 思い消えなば
亡き後に もしも尋ねる

人あらば 亡からん後の
形見ともなれ
このように筆も思うように動かず書き乱し
なさる姫君は、神無月の末つ方
より絶えぬご物思いに沈み
なさるので、月日が経つにつれていっそう
ご気分も悩ましくなりまさり
なさって、ひとかたならぬお思いなので、お
命も危うく見えさせなさる

with longing overflowing in my sleeves and body

In the pre-dawn light unable to sleep at all
night after night my life continues
coldly on might there still be
a chance to meet again? If these thoughts fade away
after my death should anyone
come seeking me let this remain
as a keepsake of my time after death
