堀田様先月廿日京都ゟ御帰着之由未タ何事
も御達無之候得共京都え御返事ハ六月中ニ
可申上と御受被申候よしニ御座候右ニ付井
伊掃部様御大老被仰付米三百俵御増尚又此
度之御返事向万端被仰付候よし御出立ハ五
月中旬と申事ニ御座候此度御大老御祝儀ニ
諸大名ゟ御進物ニ相成候ニ付大判相庭是迄
廿六両位之所廿八両ゟ廿九両位ニ相成候よ
し当月十八日アメリカ人黒江屋白木屋等ニ
而買物致候由黒江屋ニ而箪笥三組壱組ニ而
三十三両安物上三十六両本直段は拾三四両
位之品之由尤も不残本巻絵金物付ニ而其外

堀田様、先月二十日京都より御帰着の由、未だ何事
も御達し無く候えども、京都への御返事は六月中に
申し上ぐべしと御受けになされ候よしにござい候。右につき井
伊掃部様、御大老仰せ付けられ、米三百俵御増し、なお又この
度の御返事向き万端仰せ付けられ候よし。御出立は五
月中旬と申すことにござい候。この度御大老御祝儀に
諸大名より御進物に相成り候につき、大判相庭、これまで
二十六両位のところ二十八両より二十九両位に相成り候よし。
当月十八日、アメリカ人、黒江屋・白木屋等にて
買い物致し候由。黒江屋にて箪笥三組、一組にて
三十三両、安物上三十六両、本直段は十三、四両
位の品の由。もっとも残らず本蒔絵金物付きにてその外

From Ryōsuke in Edo
Lord Hotta returned from Kyoto on the 20th of last month. Though there has been no official announcement yet, he has reportedly accepted that a reply to Kyoto should be submitted by the sixth month. In connection with this, Lord Ii Naosuke has been appointed as Great Elder (Tairō), granted an increase of 300 koku of rice, and furthermore entrusted with all matters concerning this reply. His departure is said to be scheduled for mid-fifth month. Due to the congratulatory gifts from various daimyo for this Great Elder appointment, the exchange rate for large gold coins has risen from the previous 26 ryō to about 28-29 ryō. On the 18th of this month, Americans made purchases at Kuroegiya, Shirokiya and other shops. At Kuroegiya, they bought three sets of chests of drawers at 33 ryō per set, with better quality ones at 36 ryō, though the normal price for such items is about 13-14 ryō.
