十四日十五日中川大水ハ野州奈須山崩れ湯
治場押出し死人夥敷有之候由只今以前日中
川五人三人ツヽ死人流れ候よし上下町ゟ余
ほと入湯ニ罷出居此節追々飛脚或ハ親類等
出立いたし候由
当月初方前夜地震ゆりし所此節承り候得ハ
越中富山辺山地震にて崩れ弐里程の間人家
田畠等押埋野原のことく相成候よし

十四日十五日中川大水は野州那須山崩れ、湯治場押し出し、死人おびただしくあったとのこと。只今以前、日中川に五人三人ずつ死人流れるとのこと。上下町よりかなり入湯に出かけていたが、この節追々飛脚或いは親類等が出立したとのこと。
当月初め方前夜地震が揺れた所、この節承ったところでは、越中富山辺りの山が地震にて崩れ、二里程の間人家・田畑等押し埋められ野原のごとくなったとのこと。
二十一日 朝曇り南模様にて蒸し暑し。八つ時より

時より又々雨降り、夜中殊の外暑し。
当十四日朝、那須湯本より一里ほど先の山押し出し、湯元へやがて半道ほどの近くになったため、湯本の者並びに湯治人等俄かに逃げ出したけれども、湯本湯治場右の山押し割り崩れ、土水一同に押し出したため、両側人家残らず埋まり、土地の者湯治人等死人数知れず。湯本中にて四十軒程も家数あったけれども、上の方にてようやく六七軒残った。

On the 14th and 15th days, the great flood of the Nakagawa River was caused by a landslide on Mount Nasu in Noshū province, which destroyed hot spring facilities and caused numerous deaths. Even now, three to five corpses continue to flow down the river daily. Many people from the upper and lower towns had gone to take hot spring baths, but now messengers and relatives are gradually departing.
Regarding the earthquake that shook early this month the other night, I have now heard that mountains around Toyama in Etchū province collapsed due to the earthquake, burying houses and rice fields over an area of about two ri, turning it into an open field.

On the morning of the 14th of this month, a mountain about one ri beyond Nasu Yumoto collapsed and came to within about half a ri of the hot spring source. The people of Yumoto and the hot spring visitors suddenly fled, but the mountain on the right side of Yumoto hot spring resort split and collapsed, and earth and water rushed out together, burying all the houses on both sides. The number of deaths among local residents and hot spring visitors is unknown. There were about forty houses in Yumoto, but only six or seven houses in the upper area barely survived.
