蔵土蔵等不残落候由横十弐三町立七八町ほ
と東本願寺ハ四五年已前やう〳〵御普請出
来候よし西本願寺ハ昔のまゝにて類焼いた

当月六日江戸表夜明六ツ時ゟ夕方迄古今之
大雷雨小石川御屋形御近辺十七八ケ所も落
讃州様奥女中両人死大学様家老も死深川辺
ハ数十ケ所其外追々承り候へハ余程可有之
事に候夕方にやう〳〵人こゝち付申候由
又々浦賀えアメリカ船五艘程渡いたし候よ

現代語訳
のみにて誠に目もあてられず哀れなこととのこと。
当月四日、京都松原通出火にて東本願寺焼け、宝蔵・土蔵等残らず落ちたとのこと。横十二三町、縦七八町ほど。東本願寺は四五年以前にようやく御普請出来たとのこと。西本願寺は昔のままにて類焼しなかったとのこと。
当月六日、江戸表夜明け六つ時より夕方まで古今の大雷雨。小石川御屋敷御近辺十七八ヶ所も落雷。讃州様奥女中両人死去、大学様家老も死去。深川辺りは数十ヶ所。その外追々承ったところではかなりあったことに候。夕方にようやく人心地付いたとのこと。
又々浦賀へアメリカ船五艘程来航したとのこと。
二十二日 朝より雨降り、四つ時より止み冷気なり。丑寅

That was all, and it was truly too pitiful to look upon.
On the 4th of this month, a fire broke out on Matsubara Street in Kyoto, burning down Higashi Hongan-ji temple, with all treasure houses and storehouses destroyed. The area was about 12-13 chō wide and 7-8 chō long. Higashi Hongan-ji had just completed its reconstruction work about 4-5 years ago. Nishi Hongan-ji remained as it was from old times and was not damaged by the spreading fire.
On the 6th of this month in Edo, from dawn at the 6th hour until evening, there was an unprecedented great thunderstorm. Lightning struck 17-18 places near the Koishikawa residence. Two ladies-in-waiting of Lord Sanshū died, and the chief retainer of Lord Daigaku also died. In the Fukagawa area, dozens of places were struck. From what I have heard subsequently, there were quite a few incidents. People finally regained their composure in the evening.
Again, about five American ships have arrived at Uraga.
