間家来共ニおゐて心得違不致各其職を守り
我等同様日向守え忠勤相励候事肝要ニ候万
一威憤堪兼所存等有之候ハヽ内心仮令忠義
ニ候共我等存意ニ相叶不申候間何分従来趣
意柄等相心得
公辺之御儀麁略ニ不可存者也
七月六日慎御隠居被 仰付ニ付右之通御

備後守殿下総守殿御直渡
大目付御勘定奉行外国奉行御目付御勘
定吟味役
異国船渡来ニ付人耳を立候時節国持衆始御
役人懇意を結ひ事実之儀承り度存意之者有
之候哉ニ相聞候如何之儀ニ有之全徳川家御
処置ニ候儀表方等ニ而承知致間敷義ニ候表
向取引之上ハ格別之◯内輪之評儀事等前以而
相分り候様ニ而ハ人心之障ニ相成候事故以
来表大名え突合之義勿論雖為御普代衆御用
現代語訳
間、家来共においても心得違いを致さず、各々その職を守り、
我等同様に日向守へ忠勤相励み候事、肝要に候。万
一威憤堪えかね候所存等これあり候はば、内心たとえ忠義
に候とも、我等存意に相叶い申さず候間、何分従来の趣
意柄等相心得、
公辺の御儀、粗略に存ずべからざる者なり
七月六日慎み御隠居を仰せ付けられるにつき、右の通り御

向き取り引きの上は格別、○内輪の評議の事等、前もって
相分かり候様にては、人心の障りに相成り候事故、以
来表大名へ突き合わせの儀は勿論、たとえ御譜代衆御用

During this time, the retainers should also not commit any misunderstandings, each should guard their duties,
and like ourselves, devotedly serve Hyuga-no-kami with loyalty, which is essential. If there should be
any thoughts of indignation that cannot be endured, even if internally it may seem loyal,
it would not accord with our intentions, so by all means understanding the general
principles from the past,
one must not treat the authorities' matters carelessly.

At this time when foreign ships arrive and people prick up their ears, it is heard that there may be
those who wish to form close relationships with daimyo lords and officials, wanting to learn
about actual circumstances. Whatever the matter may be, these are entirely matters of Tokugawa house
disposition, which should not be known through official channels. While official transactions are one thing,
◯ internal deliberations and such matters, if they become known in advance,
would become obstacles to people's hearts, so hereafter
regarding consultations with major daimyo lords, and of course even for hereditary retainer duties
