存じ候ところ、この辺りコレラにて家々死人病人おびただしき趣につき、行徳通りにて参り候ところ、途中にて葬式に会い候こと数知れず。追々様子承り候ところ、一時つ二時位の内に吐瀉いたし又は血を吐くなどいたし死に候よし。二日も煩い候者は無事のよし。両国橋は一日に葬礼百通り候えば橋板を洗い候よし。このところ一日に二度位洗い候よし。噺よりも恐ろしきよしにて、江戸に一日逗留いたし用向きも便ぜず帰宅いたし候由。上方筋より流行、六月末より七月中上方流行致し候。この節東海道筋大流行のよし。

It's more frightening than any story, so after staying one day in Edo, he returned home without accomplishing his business. The epidemic spread from the Kamigata region, flowing from late June through July in Kamigata. At this time it's a major epidemic along the Tōkaidō route.
