横山町中屋万衛門ゟ向庄へ申来
一此度フランス船三艘品川沖へ渡来致候馬
喰町郡代屋敷へ日々注進有之由外国異人
共国々ゟ聞打候追々渡来致候様ニ而ハ猶
々市中不景気ニ相成扨々如何とも相困り
入申候先々アメリカ等帰帆致候而安心致
居候處へ又も乗入候様ニ而ハ限りも無之
人々落付不申扨々相こまり候事ニ御座候
一今十八日巳ノ上刻
公方様御出棺上野え被為入候間市中火之
元等厳重之御沙汰ニ相成往来筋木戸〆切

一、この度フランス船三艘品川沖へ渡来致し候。馬喰町郡代屋敷へ日々注進有之由。外国異人共国々より聞き及び候。追々渡来致し候様にては猶々市中不景気に相成り、扱々如何とも相困り入り申し候。先々アメリカ等帰帆致し候て安心致し居り候ところへ、又も乗り入れ候様にては限りも無之、人々落ち着き申さず、扱々相困り候事に御座候。

1. This time three French ships have arrived off Shinagawa. Daily reports are being made to the magistrate's residence in Bakurō-chō. Foreign barbarians from various countries have heard about this and are coming one after another. If they continue to arrive like this, the city will become even more depressed economically, and we are truly at a loss as to what to do. Just when we had felt relieved after America and others had sailed back home, if they come sailing in again like this, there will be no end to it. People cannot settle down, and we are truly troubled by this situation.

His Lordship the Shōgun's coffin departed and entered Ueno, so strict orders were issued regarding fire prevention in the city, and the gates along the main streets were closed off.
