八日 大霜、寒気強く薄曇り、四時過ぎより快晴、九つ半時に地震あり（三十度）
両三日以前のこと
公卿衆であるとして駕籠や馬などで通行し、鷲子辺りより桧沢・飯富辺りと継立して参り、それより祝町へ参り小松屋へ上がり女郎を上げ置いていたところ、召し捕らえられることになったとのこと。
宇都宮辺りより白河辺り・烏山の所々在郷で語らいなして水戸へ参った由、五六人同勢にて公家衆などと申すのは四十ばかりの男にて薄化粧の手を付け、黒羽二重の小袖にて駕籠にて歩行し、先触れなど差し出して参ったとのこと。公家となったものは遠州国の神職の子供、周りは合戦場辺りの山伏その他の集まりであった。

Events from two or three days ago:
Claiming to be court nobles, they traveled by palanquin and horse, proceeding from the Washiko area through Hinokisawa and Iitomi with relay arrangements, then went to Iwai-machi, went up to Komatsuya inn and had courtesans brought up, whereupon they were arrested.
From the Utsunomiya area through Shirakawa area and Karasuyama, at various rural locations they made connections and went to Mito. The group of five or six people calling themselves court nobles consisted of men around forty years old who applied light makeup, wore black habutae silk kosode, traveled by palanquin on foot, and sent advance notice of their arrival. The one who became a court noble was the child of a Shinto priest from Enshu province, and his entourage was a gathering of mountain priests from the battlefield area and others.
