潰れた家や死人もございませんでしたが、すべて建具類は震動で損傷し、昼夜何十度となく震動するため、一同野宿をしております。そこから三里上田領へ参りましたところ、また一段と軽く、もっとも昼夜野宿をしている様子でございます。そこから二里半で小諸宿、そこから三里で中山道追分辺りに至りましては、山鳴りや震動する程のことはなく、大地震もただ折々少々震える程度で、そこから碓氷峠を江戸の方へ越えますと、二十四日の夜にかなりの地震がありましたが、その後地震もない趣でございます。これは公用中の大変な出来事を見分いたしました趣を、大体書面の通りでございます。詳細については追々各場所から調査して申し上げることと存じます。以上

There were no collapsed houses or deaths, but all the wooden fixtures were damaged by the tremors, and with dozens of tremors occurring day and night, everyone was sleeping outdoors. From there, we traveled three ri to Ueda domain, where conditions were even lighter, though people were still sleeping outdoors day and night. Two and a half ri from there was Komoro post town, and three ri further to the Oiwake area on the Nakasendo highway, there was no mountain rumbling or severe shaking - the great earthquake was only occasional slight tremors. From there, crossing Usui Pass toward Edo, there was a considerable earthquake on the night of the 24th, but there have been no earthquakes since then. This is a rough account as written of the major incident we inspected during our official duties. We believe detailed reports will be submitted progressively from each location. The above.
