ニ而潰家死人在之候段訴出候ニ付其段先御届無程申上置候
処其後も少々宛震ひ止不申候ニ付役々面々簀張
仮小屋ニ而御用弁罷在候仕合之処又々去月廿九日昼頃
大地震致シ村々潰家死人等在之并苗代田土冠りニ相成候段訴出并
御公米川下致シ今町湊裏町え入置候処皆潰御米乱俵ニ相成
候旨訴出候ニ付早速役人差出置申候廿四日ゟ廿九日迄一滴も雨降不申候所晦日明方ゟ雨強く降
其後ハ折々大風之段上郷村々氷雨降候由ニ相聞え申候委細之

榊原式部大輔預所の越後国頸城郡の村々において、先月二十四日夜の大地震により潰れた家や死人があった旨訴え出がありましたので、その段を先に届け申し上げておきました。その後も少しずつ震えが止まないため、役人たちは皆、簀張りの仮小屋で御用を弁じている次第でしたが、また先月二十九日昼頃に大地震があり、村々で潰れた家や死人等があり、また苗代田が土に埋まってしまった旨訴え出がありました。また、公米を川下げして今町湊の裏町へ入れ置いていたところ、皆潰れて御米が乱俵になってしまった旨訴え出がありましたので、早速役人を差し出しておきました。二十四日から二十九日まで一滴も雨が降りませんでしたが、晦日明け方から雨が強く降り、その後は折々大風で、上郷の村々では氷雨が降った由に聞こえております。詳細については追って申し上げますが、なおまたこの段を先に届け申し上げます。以上

Regarding the villages in Kubiki County, Echigo Province under the custody of Sakakibara Shikibu-taiyu: There were reports of collapsed houses and deaths due to the great earthquake on the night of the 24th of last month, which I reported in advance. Since the tremors continued intermittently afterward, all officials have been conducting government business from temporary huts made with reed screens. However, there was another great earthquake around noon on the 29th of last month, with reports of collapsed houses, deaths, and rice seedling fields being buried in soil. Additionally, there were reports that government rice being transported downstream and stored in the back town of Imamachi port was all damaged and the rice bags scattered. I immediately dispatched officials to investigate. From the 24th to the 29th, not a drop of rain fell, but from the dawn of the last day of the month, heavy rain began, followed by occasional strong winds, and it is reported that sleet fell in the upstream villages. While I will report the details later, I am submitting this preliminary report. The above.
