信の国高井郡水内郡村々災害之始末不取敢御届
申上置候早速手附手代共手配差出私儀も廻村
仕村々災害之様子見分仕候処誠ニ以絶言語寄
変之躰恐怖仕見ルニ不忍地面割裂七八寸ゟ
五六尺余数十間程宛筋立開右割目ゟ夥敷黒赤
色等之泥水吹出シ歩行相成兼候場所等多く有之
其上所々山崩土砂水押出シ大石転落田畑共変
地致シ多分之損地相見へ村々用水路所々欠落

信濃国高井郡水内郡の村々の災害の始末を取り急ぎ届け
申し上げておきました。早速手付きや手代たちを手配して差し出し、私自身も村々を回って
各村の災害の様子を見分いたしましたところ、誠に言語を絶する
異変の様子で恐ろしく、見るに忍びない状態でした。地面が七八寸から
五六尺余りにわたって数十間程度筋状に裂けて開き、その割れ目から大量の黒や赤
色などの泥水が吹き出し、歩行することもできない場所等が多くありました。
その上、所々で山崩れが起こり土砂や水が押し出し、大石が転落して田畑共に変
地となり、多分の損失地が見られ、村々の用水路も所々で欠け落ちました。

The above represents the disaster conditions in the villages of Takai County and Minochi County in Shinano Province, which are currently under my custody as deputy administrator, following the great earthquake on the night of March 24th of this year. I am submitting this urgent report. I immediately dispatched supervisors and clerks, and personally toured the villages to inspect the disaster conditions. What I witnessed was truly beyond description—a terrifying and unbearable sight. The ground split open in linear cracks ranging from 7-8 sun to 5-6 shaku wide, extending for dozens of ken, with massive amounts of black and red muddy water gushing forth from these cracks, making many areas impassable on foot. Moreover, landslides occurred in various places with soil and water rushing out, large boulders tumbling down, transforming both rice fields and farmland into unusable terrain, with extensive damaged land visible, and village irrigation channels collapsing in many places.
