民家七拾軒人別百九拾九人馬三拾疋無跡形も
土中え押埋り右組々多分之亡所ニ相成申候且又右村々
近村内之儀は家数四拾四軒人別弐百三拾五人之内潰
家五軒相残外三拾九軒人数六拾人余馬六疋并山田中
村之儀は家数三十九軒人別拾弐人是又跡形も無之

無里村等に亘る大姥山・虫倉岳という高山が同夜震動により崩壊した始末について、近頃ようやく通路ができたため見分をいたしましたところ、右九ヶ村のことは格別に大災害でございました。その上にも伊折村・和佐尾村・梅木村・京原村・念仏寺村の五ヶ村は右山麓に間近で、念仏寺村の内の平沢組・臥雲組、梅木村の内の城ノ越組・親沢組、地京原村の内の藤沢組・横道組、伊折村の内の大田組、高福村の内の栗本組、都合十一組の内で、民家七十軒・人別百九十九人・馬三十疋が跡形もなく土中に押し埋められ、右の組々の多分が亡所となりました。また右村々近村内のことは、家数四十四軒・人別二百三十五人の内、潰家五軒が相残り、外三十九軒・人数六十人余・馬六疋、並びに山田中村のことは家数三十九軒・人別十二人がこれまた跡形もなく土中に押し埋められ、亡所となったほどのことにつき、間近の村々の変地・潰家・死人が殊の外おびただしくございます趣ですが、未だ取り調べが行き届きません。前条の村々等は里地と違い、村立て・耕地も山路に相隔て、高目に不似合いに地が広く、物事手遠の上、総じて平常は巌石多く、重なった辺を一歩通うのと同様の険阻でございましたところ、この度の大災で元の道形が滅亡いたしましたため、当分巨細の見分は行き届き申すまじく、如何にも嘆かわしく心痛の次第につき、最寄りの災害が甚だしくない村方とも取り纏め、救済方をそれぞれ手当て申し付けました。

Regarding the collapse of the high mountains called Ōubasan and Mushikuradake that extend to Munashi Village and others, which occurred due to seismic activity on the same night - recently a passageway was finally established, and when I conducted an inspection, I found that these nine villages suffered particularly severe disasters. Moreover, the five villages of Iori Village, Wasao Village, Umeki Village, Kyōhara Village, and Nenbutsuji Village are located close to the foot of these mountains. Within these villages, in Nenbutsuji Village: Hirasawa Group and Garyun Group; in Umeki Village: Shironokoshi Group and Oyasawa Group; in Jikyōhara Village: Fujisawa Group and Yokomichi Group; in Iori Village: Ōta Group; and in Takafuku Village: Kurimoto Group - a total of eleven groups - seventy private houses, 199 people, and thirty horses were completely buried in the earth without a trace, and most of these groups became devastated areas. Furthermore, regarding the nearby villages, out of forty-four houses and 235 people, only five collapsed houses remained, while the other thirty-nine houses, more than sixty people, and six horses, as well as in Yamadanaka Village, thirty-nine houses and twelve people were also buried in the earth without a trace, becoming devastated areas. Due to such circumstances, the ground changes, collapsed houses, and deaths in the nearby villages are extraordinarily numerous, though the investigation has not yet been completed. Unlike villages in flat areas, these aforementioned villages are separated by mountain paths, with cultivated land unsuitably spread over high ground, making everything difficult to access. Moreover, these areas are normally treacherous terrain, dense with rocks and boulders, as difficult to traverse as walking step by step. With this great disaster, the original road formations have been destroyed, so detailed inspections cannot be conducted for the time being. This is truly lamentable and distressing, so I have ordered relief measures in coordination with nearby villages that have not suffered severe disasters.
