英語訳

The main mast is nine zhang and two chi long, with a circumference of nine chi. The foremast is seven zhang and two chi long, with a circumference of seven chi. Two oars, each four zhang long and two chi and three cun wide. Large and small anchors, two each. The large one is two zhang and seven chi long. The small one is two zhang and four chi long. All are eight cun and seven cun wide respectively. Shaped like the character "个". All made of ironwood. Two palm fiber ropes above the anchors. Length one hundred tuo. Circumference one chi and five cun. [According to dictionaries, "ding" refers to stones used to sink ships. Same as "zhen". There is no character "zhuo". Now made of wood, so the colloquial character follows the wood radical.] The mat sail of the main mast is five zhang and two chi wide and five zhang and three chi long. Three windlass ropes. Length thirty-five tuo. Circumference one chi and two cun. Two binding ropes. Length fifteen tuo. Circumference one chi and five cun. The mat sail of the foremast is two zhang and two chi wide and two zhang and eight chi long. The sail at the top of the main mast is called "turban top." Only official ships may use this for the first time. Merchant ships are not permitted to use it. Length five zhang and four chi. Width five zhang. [Xu Jing's record states: At the top of the main mast, ten small sails are added. This is called the "wild fox sail." This is probably the same as the turban top.] The cloth sail below the main mast is called "sail skirt." Length six chi. Width one zhang and five chi. The cloth sail above the foremast is called "head wrap." Pointed at the top and square at the bottom. Triangular in shape. Length three zhang. Width at the bottom is two zhang and eight chi. The decorative cloth sail is four zhang and eight chi long and three zhang and four chi wide. The cloth sail below the decorative sail is called "decorative trousers." Length six chi. Width one zhang and five chi.
