《割注：臣》葆光按ずるに、封舟は夏至の後に西南風に乗って琉球に往き、冬至の後に東北風に乗って福州に帰る。これはその概要を言うものである。南風は和緩で、北風は凛冽である。故に帰程はとりわけ難しい。ただ内外の水勢に順逆があるだけではない。嘉靖・万暦の封舟が閩に帰るときは、おおむね冬至に先立って、九・十月の中にあった。朔風はまだ勁くなく、帰帆に最も宜しい。十一月・十二月の冬至前後は、則ち風勢が日に勁くなり、浪は必ず船上を過ぎていく。もし正月であれば、則ち風颶が最も多く、かつ期に応じて

《Margin: Minister》 Bao-guang notes: The investiture ships travel to Ryukyu riding the southwest winds after the summer solstice, and return to Fuzhou riding the northeast winds after the winter solstice. This describes the general pattern. The south winds are gentle and mild, while the north winds are harsh and bitter. Therefore, the return journey is particularly difficult. This is not merely due to favorable or adverse water currents. When the investiture ships of the Jiajing and Wanli eras returned to Fujian, they generally did so before the winter solstice, during the 9th and 10th months. The north winds were not yet strong, making it most suitable for the return voyage. During the 11th and 12th months, before and after the winter solstice, the wind force increases daily, and waves inevitably pass over the ship.
