## [Damage in the Asakusa Area] (Section 26)
Higashi-Nakachō, Nishi-Nakachō, Namiki-chō, Take-chō, and Zaimoku-chō, all in front of the Asakusa temple gates, suffered severe damage with many collapsed buildings. To the south, the Komagata Kannon Hall was burned from the south side. The restaurant "Hatsufuji" in Komagata-chō was also burned on both sides from the south.
In Suwa-chō, the Suwa Myōjin Shrine burned down. Kurofune-chō was burned on both sides. The Shimizu Inari Shrine in Yanaka also burned. The area burned as far as the same gate precinct, Yanaka Hachiken-chō, the Daichi area, Miyoshi-chō, and the Umayagashi ferry landing. On the western side, the precinct in front of the Kaya Temple survived, and the fire stopped there.
Throughout this vicinity, severe damage and collapses were widespread. Further south, Hatagochō, Morita-chō, Okuramae, Tennō Bridge, Tennō-chō, Kawara-chō, and Kaya-chō also suffered major damage, with many collapses in the back streets running along the western sides of these neighborhoods.
Major damage extended southward as far as the back streets of Yanagi-bashi, Ryōgoku, and Yoshikawa-chō.
Major damage and collapsed buildings were also found in Fukui-chō, Kyūemon-chō, Torigoe, the Astronomical Observatory [Tenmon-dai], Misuji-chō, Age-chō, Sangen-chō, Tahara-chō, and other areas.
Sangenobori [also known as Shamisen-bori], and the outer storehouse of the Satake domain residence were damaged. The samurai and townspeople's residences in all four directions from here suffered major damage. There were many collapses around the Nanakumagari area as well.

## [Damage in the Western Asakusa Area]
In the western Asakusa area, near Shin-Torigoe and to the south of the upper residence of the Katō domain: Keiin-ji and Kōryū-ji temples had their main halls intact, but their monks' quarters were damaged. From Nichirin-ji, Tengaku-in, and Tōkō-in, through the precinct's gate district, Kaizen-ji, and as far as Shimotani Yamazaki-chō in Shitaya, samurai residences, temple buildings, and townspeople's houses alike suffered many collapses.
The Jakotsu long tenement houses [Jakotsu Nagaya], Seigan-ji Temple, Asakusa Sakamoto-chō, and Asatomari-chō also suffered major damage and many collapses.
To the west, the main halls of Zentoku-ji, Yōgen-ji, Gengan-ji, and Genkū-ji all collapsed.
The adjunct grounds [sohechi] of Higashi Hongan-ji suffered major damage and collapses. Banzuiin gate district also suffered many major damage and collapsed buildings; the extent of burning was similar to that previously described.

Over one chō [approximately 109 meters] of the compound of Yamamtoto Jintayū, a gomuné [licensed organizer of lower-class itinerant performers and beggars], burned down.
At Higashi Hongan-ji, the main hall suffered minor damage but the monks' quarters were severely damaged. The rear gate at the Tahara-chō entrance and the western gate both collapsed; three sub-temples [tatchu] within the precinct also collapsed, with further extensive damage elsewhere. The extent of burning to the east was as previously described.

## [Section 28]
Along the Shin-tera-machi road, west of Kikuya Bridge: Gyōan-ji and Tōkoku-ji, together with one chō of the gate precinct, burned down. The opposite side burned as far as just before the canal bank.
Along the same Tera-machi road, Honzō-ji, Kōdai-ji, and Tōgaku-ji suffered major damage. There were collapsed buildings in the same gate precinct.
