此寺に備中松山城主水谷侯《割書：知行六万石故有テ｜家断絶ス》一太夫
鶴見内蔵介所持の剛弓一張鉄の《見せ消ち：枚｜杖》一本有弓はほこ
短にして凡一寸五六分有八郎為朝能登寺の弓たりとも
かくはあらしと思ひし程の剛弓也杖は身厚き竹にて包み
うえ下へ鉄をあらはし長三尺五六寸計丸さ五寸余重さ凡
弐貫五百目微力成ものは両手にても引上難し是を平生
つきて歩行せしといふ銘あり大力といふべし此寺に
由緒ありて禅学をし終に爰にて死せしとのことにて墓も
あり長ゝしき墓碑有文は略しぬ子孫は備中の布賀村に

あり僕にゆかりの家也はからすも二百里も来此墓に詣る【脱「と」】
いふは宿縁ともいふへく此外水谷左京侯の奥方の墓水野
甲斐守忠保朝臣の墓も有侍りし地名主の物語りに
此寺は二重門なりしに宝暦拾一年巳年毛長沼より竜の
天上せし時に巻倒く此辺の民家も大ひに損し舎人村
古千谷村の器物も巻上ケ爰かしこに落し本郷村に
おゐても皿茶碗其外色々のものを拾（ヒロ）ひし由此名主の
家にては庭に居風呂を置しに虚空に巻あけて何国へ落
せしにや竜の為に大ひに尊をせし迚笑らひぬ世の中に

現代語訳

この寺に備中松山城主水谷侯（知行六万石あったが、家断絶した）の家臣である一太夫鶴見内蔵介所持の剛弓一張と鉄の杖一本がある。弓は（弓幹が）短くて、およそ一寸五六分ある。八郎為朝や能登寺の弓でもこうではあるまいと思うほどの剛弓である。杖は身の厚い竹で包み、上下に鉄を現し、長さ三尺五六寸ほど、丸さ五寸余り、重さおよそ二貫五百目で、微力な者は両手でも引き上げ難い。これを平生突いて歩行したという銘がある。大力というべきである。この寺に由緒があって禅学をし、ついにここで死んだということで墓もある。長々しい墓碑があるが、文は省略した。子孫は備中の布賀村にある。

僕に縁のある家なので、はるばる二百里も来てこの墓に詣でるということは、宿縁ともいうべきである。このほか水谷左京侯の奥方の墓、水野甲斐守忠保朝臣の墓もあった。地名主の物語によると、この寺は二重門であったが、宝暦十一年巳年に毛長沼より竜が天上した時に巻き倒し、この辺りの民家も大いに損じ、舎人村・古千谷村の器物も巻き上げて、あちらこちらに落とし、本郷村においても皿・茶碗その外色々なものを拾ったという。この名主の家では庭に据え風呂を置いていたのに、虚空に巻き上げて何国へ落としたのやら、竜のために大いに損をしたといって笑った。世の中に

In this temple, there are a powerful bow and an iron staff that belonged to Ichidayū Tsurumi Kuranonosuke, a retainer of Lord Mizutani of Bitchū Matsuyama Castle (who had a stipend of 60,000 koku but whose family line was discontinued). The bow is short (in the grip section) with approximately 1 sun 5-6 bu thickness. It is such a powerful bow that even the bows of Hachirō Tametomo or those at Nōtoji Temple would not be like this. The staff is wrapped in thick bamboo with iron exposed at the top and bottom, approximately 3 shaku 5-6 sun in length, over 5 sun in circumference, and weighing about 2 kan 500 me. A person of weak strength cannot lift it even with both hands. There is an inscription saying he used this as a walking stick in daily life. He should truly be called a man of great strength. Having connections to this temple, he studied Zen and eventually died here, so his grave is also here. There is a lengthy grave inscription, but I have omitted the text. His descendants are in Fuka village in Bitchū.

Since it is a family related to me, coming all the way 200 ri to visit this grave can be called a karmic connection. In addition, there are also the graves of the wife of Lord Mizutani Sakyō and Lord Mizuno Kai-no-kami Tadayasu. According to the story of the local headman, this temple had a double gate, but in the 11th year of Hōreki (1761), the year of the Snake, when a dragon ascended to heaven from Kenaguma pond, it was blown down. The houses in this area were also greatly damaged, household items from Toneri village and Kosendani village were swept up and scattered here and there, and in Hongō village too, dishes, tea bowls, and various other things were picked up. At this headman's house, they had placed a bathtub in the garden, but it was swept up into the sky and dropped somewhere unknown - they laughed about suffering great loss due to the dragon.
