一当村石切之義村中不残取調書上仕候処此外
　壱人も無御座候
一石切稼ニ罷出旅先二而石切之弟子等召抱不申候
　猶又旅先実躰ニ相廻り可申候様具二申聞候処
　一々承知仕奉得其意候若此上ニも不吟味成儀
　有之而後日被遊及御聞候ハゝ其御元ゟ早速御注進
　可被成候其上如何様之御咎筋被　仰付候共少も
　御恨無御座候為後日連印証文仍而如件

現代語訳

差し上げ申し上げる一札のこと

一、当村の石切（石工）の件について、村中残らず取り調べて書き上げ致しましたところ、この他に一人もおりません。

一、石切が稼業に出かける旅先において石切の弟子等を雇い入れることは致しません。なお、旅先では誠実に行動するよう詳しく申し聞かせましたところ、一つ一つ承知して趣旨を理解いたしました。もしこの上にも不注意な事柄があって後日お耳に入ることがございましたら、その元（現地）から早速ご報告いたします。その上でどのようなお咎めを仰せ付けられましても少しも恨みに思いません。後日の証拠として連名で印を押した証文です。よって書面の通りです。

A document respectfully submitted

One: Regarding the stone cutters (stonemasons) of our village, we have investigated and compiled a complete list of all villagers, and there are no others besides these.

One: When stone cutters go out to work in distant places, they shall not employ or take on apprentices or disciples while away. Furthermore, we have thoroughly instructed them to conduct themselves with integrity while traveling, and they have acknowledged and understood each point. Should there be any negligent conduct that comes to your attention in the future, we will immediately report it from wherever they may be. Moreover, whatever punishment you may impose upon us, we will harbor no resentment whatsoever. This is a jointly signed and sealed document for future reference. Therefore, as written.
