一 河内本・別本においては、底本の本文の同一箇所に対して数種の異文が在する場合にも、それらの異文相互間に僅かの相違が存するに過ぎず、殆ど同一の異文とも言い得る時は、それらの異文を悉く列記せず、別に定められた諸本の順序に従い、上位にある一本の異文を記して代表させ、その本の略号を付し、その下にこれと殆ど同一の異文を有する諸本の略号を列挙し、略号の下に括弧を設けて相違点を示した。例えば

When one textual variant compared to the base text exists commonly in all the Kawachi texts adopted in this book, a fixed order was established for the various texts, the variant from the highest-ranking text was recorded as representative, the abbreviations of the various texts were not listed below it, and the abbreviation "Ka" (河) was attached. For example:

The variant is recorded using the highest-ranking Takamatsu-no-miya family text as representative, the abbreviations of the various texts (Miya Bi Tame Hira Ō) were not listed below it, and the abbreviation "Ka" was appended. The order of the various texts was separately established and shown at the beginning of each chapter. The same method was used for the variant texts (beppon). For example:

1. When a portion corresponding to part of the base text has been supplemented by copying from texts of other lineages in the various texts, this fact is recorded with the abbreviation of that text attached. For example:

indicates that from the location reading "kiki wataritatematsurishi ka to" in line 5 of page 749 of the base text to the location reading "nado ka" in line 6 of page 750, the Hirase text has been supplemented by copying from an Aohyōshi text.

In the Kawachi and variant texts, when multiple types of textual variants exist for the same location in the base text, but the differences between these variants are only slight and can be considered almost identical variants, all such variants are not listed exhaustively. Instead, according to the separately established order of the various texts, the variant from the highest-ranking text is recorded as representative with its text abbreviation attached, the abbreviations of texts having almost identical variants are listed below it, and parentheses are provided below the abbreviations to indicate the differences. For example:
