差上申一札之事
一 当村石切之義村中不残取調書上仕候処
此外ニ壱人茂無御座候尤石切稼罷出旅先
ニ而石切弟子召抱不申候猶又商売先実躰ニ
相廻り可申候様具申聞候処一々承知仕奉得
其意候若此上ニ茂不吟味成義有之候而後日
被成御聞及候ハヽ其元より早速御注進可被成候
其上如何様之御咎筋被 仰付候共少茂御恨
無御座候為後日連印一札仍而如件

差し上げ申し上げる一札の件
一、当村の石切に関しまして、村中残らず取り調べ書き上げ仕りました結果、この他に一人も御座いません。もっとも石切稼業に出向き、旅先において石切の弟子を召し抱えることは致しません。なお商売先の実情をよく見回り申すよう具体的に申し聞かせましたところ、一々承知仕り、その意を得奉りました。もしこの上にも吟味不十分な件がございまして、後日お耳に入れられましたならば、そちらから早速ご注進くださいませ。その上でいかような御咎めをお申し付けになられましても、少しも御恨みはございません。後日のため連印の一札、よって件の如し。

A Written Pledge Respectfully Submitted
Item: Regarding the stonecutters of our village, we have thoroughly investigated and recorded all members of the village, and there is not a single other person beyond those listed. Furthermore, those who go out to work as stonecutters do not take apprentice stonecutters under their employ while traveling. We have specifically instructed them to carefully observe the actual conditions at their places of business, and they have acknowledged and understood this completely. Should there be any matter that was inadequately investigated and should come to your attention later, please immediately report it from your end. Whatever punishment you may impose upon us, we harbor no resentment whatsoever. This joint pledge is for future reference, therefore as stated herein.
