七 清水（きよみつ）の石塔（せきたう）并 祇園（ぎをん）の石（いし）の鳥居（とりゐ）倒（たをるゝ）事
清水の石（いし）の塔（たう）は上二 重（ぢう）をゆりおとす瀧（たき）まうでの
もの其外さんけいのともがらきもをけし【「肝を潰す」に同じ。非常に驚く。】色を
うしなひあまの命【天から授かりものの命】をたすかりよみがへりたる
心地して下向（げかう）の道【社寺に参拝して帰る道】のおそろしさいふはかりなし
祇園（ぎをん）の南門（なんもん）に立ゝれし石の鳥居は津（つ）の国
天王寺（てんわうじ）の鳥居になぞらへ笠木（かさぎ）たかくそびえ
二（ふた）ばしらふとしく【宮殿などの柱をしっかりと揺るがないように地に打ち込む。壮大に造営することにいう。】立ならび額（がく）はこれ青蓮院（しやうれんゐん）の
御 門跡（もんぜき）あそはされ給ひ筆画（ひつくはく）ゆたかにめでたく【すぐれていて】
おはせし【「ある」「いる」の尊敬語】をたちまちにゆりくづされ立（たつ）や鳥居（とりゐ）
のふたばしら地をひゞかしてどうど【どうっと】たをれ段々（きだ〳〵）

七 清水の石塔ならびに祇園の石の鳥居が倒れること
清水の石の塔は上の二重を揺り落とした。滝詣での者、その他参詣の人々は肝を潰し、顔色を失い、天から授かった命を助かり蘇ったような心地で、帰路の恐ろしさは言いようがなかった。
祇園の南門に立てられた石の鳥居は、津の国天王寺の鳥居になぞらえ、笠木高くそびえ、二本の柱は太く立ち並び、額はこれを青蓮院の門跡がお書きになられ、筆遣いも豊かで見事であられたのを、たちまちに揺り崩され、立派な鳥居の二本柱が地を響かせて、どうっと倒れ、段々に

Seven The stone pagoda of Kiyomizu and the stone torii of Gion collapse
The stone pagoda at Kiyomizu had its upper two stories shaken down. Those who had come to worship at the waterfall, as well as other pilgrims, were frightened out of their wits, lost their color, and felt as if their heaven-granted lives had been spared and they had been brought back to life. The terror of their journey home was beyond description.
The stone torii that stood at the south gate of Gion, modeled after the torii of Tennōji in Tsu Province, had a high-soaring kasagi beam, with two thick pillars standing side by side. The plaque had been graciously written by the Monzeki of Shōren-in temple, with rich and splendid brushwork, but it was suddenly shaken and destroyed. The two pillars of the magnificent torii made the ground tremble as they fell with a thunderous crash, collapsing in stages...
