春が過ぎ夏もやって来て、ようやく中頃になっていくと、
藤や山吹に咲き続く垣根の卯の花、大和撫子も、
そのまま錦を敷いたようになるなかに、
千葉、万葉、梨月、名月などという五月躑躅も
しだいに咲き開き、山ホトトギスは声ばかりに
鳴き渡り、田子の早苗は時期が過ぎるといって植え
急ぐ早乙女の田歌の声々に、井手の河鹿も
面白がって飛び上がるのも趣深いことである。
