涙とともに追い出され、今は世に住むべき甲斐もない。急に髪を剃って心も落ち着かせ、にわか道心を起こして、あちこちの知っている人のもとを訪ね歩いて昨日今日と過ごすうちに、水無月・文月は過ぎたけれども、地震の名残はまだ収まらない。その間に諸国各地を巡って、この度の地震で崩れ損じた有様を詳細に見聞きしながら語り申し上げたのは確かなことである。
