もしも新しい母をお迎えになれば、私だけでなく弟二人も継子となって、三人とも苦労して寒い思いをするでしょう。しかし、今の母を我慢してお許しくだされば、私一人が寒く苦労するだけで、弟二人は暖かく過ごせるでしょう。私はどのようであっても苦しくはありませんが、もし今の母を追い出されれば、二人の幼い弟こそが可哀想でございます」と泣きながら父を諌めた。その真心と孝行心に継母も大いに感動して涙を

"If you welcome a new mother, not only I but my two younger brothers would also become stepchildren, and all three of us would suffer and be cold. However, if you bear with and forgive the current mother, only I alone would be cold and suffer hardship, while my two brothers would be warm. No matter what happens to me, I would not suffer, but if you drive away my current mother, it is my two young brothers who would be pitiful." He admonished his father while weeping. Moved by his sincerity and filial devotion, even the stepmother was greatly touched and shed tears.

She reformed her previous evil heart into a truthful one, apologizing to Min Ziqian and also apologizing to the father. Although the father had thought his stepmother hateful, he was moved to tears of emotion by Min Ziqian's sincerity and forgave her, allowing her to stay. From then on, the stepmother respected Min Ziqian's virtue, harmonized with goodness, and came to love Ziqian more truly than her own biological children. Thus Ziqian continued to honor his parents and devoted himself even more to filial piety.
