呉 猛
呉猛（ごもう）は年（とし）八 才（さい）にして至（いたつ）て
孝行（かうこう）ふかき人なり元来（もとより）
家（いゑ）まづしくしてよろづ
心（こゝろ）にかなふ事（こと）なし夏（なつ）の
事にありけるが父（ちゝ）寐（いね）給ふに
蚊（か）多（おほ）くとまりてほしい
まゝに父（ちゝ）をさしけるを幼稚（ようちの）
心（こゝ）ろにおゝいにうれひけれ
ども貧家（ひんか）の事なれば
蚊帳（かや）とてもあらざれば
我（わか）衣（ころも）をぬぎて父（ちゝ）に着（き）せ
けれども蚊（か）なをも父（ちゝ）の
身（み）に近（ちか）づきければ呉猛（ごもう）我（われ）は

しめ我（われ）ははだかにて其（その）
かたわらに臥（ふ）し給ふと蚊（か）
むらがりかゝりて呉猛（ごもう）を
さしくろふ幼稚（おさなき）の人の其（その）
苦痛（くつう）何（なに）にたとへん物（もの）も
なしされども呉猛（こもう）は是（これ）

呉 猛
呉猛は年八歳にして非常に
孝行深い人である。もともと
家は貧しくてあらゆることが
思うようにならない。夏の
ことであったが、父が眠られる時に
蚊が多くとまって、思うままに
父を刺すのを、幼い
心に大いに憂いたけれども
貧家のことなので
蚊帳もないので
自分の衣服を脱いで父に着せた
けれども、蚊がなおも父の
身に近づいたので、呉猛は自分が

裸になって父の傍らに
いたところ、蚊が集まって
きて呉猛の幼い裸の
身を刺して、父の方へは
行かなくなったので、呉猛は大いに
喜んで、これより毎夜
父を自分より先に寝かせ、

自分は裸でその
傍らに伏した。すると蚊が
群がりかかって呉猛を
刺し続ける。幼い人のその
苦痛は何にたとえるものも
ない。しかし呉猛はこれを

Wu Meng
Wu Meng was eight years old and extremely
filial. Originally
his family was poor and nothing
went as desired. It was during summer,
and when his father would sleep,
many mosquitoes would land and freely
bite his father. With his childish
heart he greatly grieved over this, but
being from a poor household,
there was no mosquito net,
so he took off his own clothes and put them on his father.
However, the mosquitoes still
approached his father's body, so Wu Meng himself

became completely naked and stayed
by his father's side. The mosquitoes gathered
and came to bite Wu Meng's young naked
body, and did not go toward
his father, so Wu Meng greatly
rejoiced. From then on, every night
he would have his father lie down before himself,
take off his own clothes and put them on his father,
and he himself would lie naked
beside him. Then the mosquitoes
would swarm and attack Wu Meng,
biting him continuously. That
suffering of the young child cannot
be compared to anything.
However, Wu Meng did this

are often found in this world.
