《題：《割書：童子｜教諭》撫育草（そだてくさ）》
此 草紙（さうし）はよく童（わらんべ）ををしへ撫育（そだて）孝弟（かうてい）の道（みち）を
しらしめ身（み）を修（おさ）め家（いえ）をとゝのへ子孫（しそん）長久（ちやうきう）にいたるの事を
知（し）るし又 日用（にちよう）の心得（こゝろへ）となるへき事（こと）急難（きうなん）急病（きんひやう）を救（すく）ふ
の術（しゆつ）を心（こゝろ）やすくをしへさとせり
現代語訳

変えることは難しい。なお樹木を植える法のように、幼少の時に矯正すれば、（大きく）成長して抱えるほどになっても（曲がりを）直すことは容易ではない。堵庵手島先生はかつて『前訓』という著作があった。今このたびの著作は、ほとんどその志を発展させたものではないだろうか。

童子教諭 撫育草（そだてくさ）
この草紙は、よく子供たちを教え育て、孝行と兄弟愛の道を知らせ、身を修め家を整え、子孫が長く続くに至ることを知らしめる。また日常の心得となるべきことや、急難・急病を救う術を、心安らかに教え諭している。

Master Doan Teshima once had a work called "Zenkun" (Previous Teachings). This present work almost certainly develops that spirit, does it not?
