に至り山鳴響き渡り天地くつかへるかと恪む所に
湛場はからすも破却して洪水押出すと聞
伝ふる程もなし申の刻頃小市に押出す其有様

煙りともいふへきかあたりに散り乱れて晻【あん＝くらい。雲霧が立ち込める。の意】夜
の如し其強勢をこわ〳〵なから見てあるに丹波
嶋まて《割書：小市ヨリ｜一里川下モ》山の如くの大浪三ツにして押行けるとかや
其程もなく北は小市村を一ト被りにして此村
の民家耕地等悉押流し久保寺村九反村
荒木村等の耕地湖水の如し其水勢荒木村
吹上の間を瀬筋に押行市村新田川合村の
作場【さくば＝耕作地。田畑。】を押荒し犀川と煤花川と是皆合せて
一面の満水となり南は小松原村四ツ屋村

望まないことを待ち侘びながら日を重ね、憂き艱難に
身をやつし、哀しみ患うこと既に二十日の今日
に至り、山鳴りが響き渡り天地がひっくり返るかと恐れるところに、
堰き止め場がにわかに破壊して洪水が押し出すと聞き
伝わるや否や、申の刻頃小市に押し出した。その有様は

煙りとでも言うべきものがあたりに散り乱れて暗闇夜
のようである。その強い勢いを恐ろしく思いながら見ていると、丹波
島まで《割書：小市より一里川下も》山のような大波が三つになって押し行くとかいう。
その間もなく北は小市村を一気に覆い、この村の
民家や耕地等をすべて押し流し、久保寺村、九反村、
荒木村等の耕地は湖水のようになった。その水勢は荒木村と
吹上の間を瀬筋として押し行き、市村新田、川合村の
作場を押し荒らし、犀川と煤花川とこれらすべてを合わせて
一面の満水となり、南は小松原村、四ツ屋村

Here again, the peasant people living along the rivers, starting with Kawanakajima,
built temporary huts in the nearby mountains and took shelter there,
constantly fearing that water might rush in and sweep away their homes at any moment.
While waiting anxiously for this unwanted event, day after day passed in sorrowful hardship,
weakening their bodies with grief and worry. On this twentieth day,
as mountain rumblings echoed and they feared heaven and earth might overturn,
the dam suddenly burst and floodwater rushed out. No sooner had this news
spread than around the hour of the Monkey (3-5 PM), it rushed into Koichi. The scene was

like mountains piled upon mountains. The water was somehow completely black,
with what could be called smoke scattered all around, making it like dark night.
While watching this tremendous force with terror, it is said that waves as large as mountains
came in three surges, pushing all the way to Tanbajima {{marginal note: one ri downstream from Koichi}}.
In no time, to the north, Koichi village was completely covered,
and all the private houses and farmland of this village were swept away. The farmland of Kuboji village, Kyūtan village,
and Araki village became like lakes. The force of this water
rushed between Araki village and Fukiage as a torrent, devastating
the cultivated fields of Ichimura-shinden and Kawai village. The Sai River and Susubana River
all combined into one vast flood, and to the south, Komatsubara village and Yotsuya village
