親疎廻りて六萬五千日の數を積る此春
おそろしき大災諸人命を失ふ就中
一山世尊院の本尊釋迦牟尼如来佛身
紫逢【「紫袍」の意か】にして爾も北越今町の續善光寺濱
出現にましまして殊に霊験あらたなり
前立本尊日本廻國の刻此釋尊の
御輿は渡船の邊りに至りて重く来給ふ事
只事ならすと固く御本院御内佛にま
します釈尊代りて御廻國なりし
とかや然るに今大災發して一山焼亡の

時勿躰【もったい】なくも佛尊少しくとらけ【くどらけ…くどれる(崩れる)の意。】流れり
其外秘作の佛菩薩一時の灰となり
給ふ事佛法襄ひたりといふ答て云惑ふへ
からす佛力とろけ給ひ焼亡した給ふ事こそ
正法に不思議なきしるしなれいつの頃にありけるや
御江戸神田明神の神職恐多くも寺社
御奉行所に願書を奉る其子細は神前に
おゐて湯の花の祈祷勤行仕度の　
旨を申上るに聞召【きこしめし】をさせられて湯の花の祈
念【「湯の花」は湯の沸騰時に上がる泡。神社で巫女や神職が湯の泡を笹の葉につけて参詣人にかけ浄めたり、神託を仰いだりする。】如斯の利益ありやと【「り」は筆の勢いで巻き上がったか】御尋のありけれは

親疎を問わず参拝者が回り来て六万五千日の数を積もるこの春、
恐ろしい大火災で諸人が命を失った。なかでも
一山世尊院の本尊釈迦牟尼如来は仏身が
紫袍をまとっており、しかも北越今町の続善光寺浜に
出現されて、特に霊験あらたかであった。
前立本尊が日本回国の時、この釈尊の
御輿は渡船の辺りに至って重くなられることが
ただ事ではないと、本院の御内仏におられる
釈尊の代わりに御回国されたのだ
ということだ。ところが今回大災が起こって一山焼亡の

時、もったいなくも仏尊が少し溶け崩れて流れた。
その他秘仏の仏菩薩が一時に灰となって
しまわれることは仏法が衰えたということだと答えて言い惑うべきでは
ない。仏力が溶け崩れ給い焼亡されたことこそが
正法に不思議のないしるしなのである。いつの頃であったか、
江戸神田明神の神職が恐れ多くも寺社
奉行所に願書を奉った。その子細は神前において
湯の花の祈祷勤行をいたしたい
旨を申し上げたところ、お聞き入れされて湯の花の祈
念はこのような利益があるのかとお尋ねがあったので

This spring, when pilgrims both close and distant came around accumulating the count of 65,000 days,
a terrible great fire caused many people to lose their lives. Among them,
the principal image Shakyamuni Buddha of Seizon-in temple on the mountain had a Buddha body
clothed in purple robes, and moreover had manifested at
Zoku-Zenkoji Beach in Imamachi, Hokuetsu, being particularly spiritually efficacious.
When the front-standing principal image made a pilgrimage around Japan, this Shakyamuni's
portable shrine became heavy when it reached the ferry crossing,
which was no ordinary matter, so it was said that this was the Shakyamuni
from the inner Buddha hall of the main temple making the pilgrimage in place
of the original. However, now a great disaster occurred and when the entire mountain burned,

regrettably even the Buddhist deity partially melted and flowed away.
Besides this, the secret Buddhist statues and bodhisattvas all turned to ash at once.
One should not be confused and say this means Buddhism has declined.
The very fact that Buddha's power melted and was consumed by fire
is a sign that there is nothing miraculous in true dharma. At some point in time,
a Shinto priest from Kanda Myojin in Edo respectfully
submitted a petition to the Temple and Shrine Magistrate's Office. The details were that he wished to
perform yu-no-hana prayer rituals before the deity.
When he made this request, it was heard and he was asked whether
yu-no-hana prayers had such benefits.
