慙惧候抑討叛伐賊者素より臣子之分たる
處御賞詞を蒙り候も望外之至り況や秩禄を
賜り候に及ひては寔に身に余り候次第殊更方今
御国費莫大之折柄に候へは此儘拝賜罷在候
儀深く恐惧之至奉存候に付甚奉恐入候へ共
今般恩賜之高返上仕度内願に候間此段冝

現代語訳
恐縮に存じます。そもそも叛を討ち賊を伐つことは、もとより臣下の分であるところ、
御賞詞を蒙ることも望外の至りで、ましてや秩禄を
賜ることに及んでは、まことに身に余る次第です。殊更、方今
御国費莫大な折柄でございますから、このまま拝受しておりますことは、
深く恐れ入る至極と存じますので、甚だ恐れ入りますが、
今般の恩賜の高を返上いたしたく内願でございます間、この段よろしく
御執奏くださいますよう。以上

辞表の趣旨はもっともと思し召されますが、
功労に対し叡感の余り褒賞を賜ったものですから、
返上の儀については御沙汰に及ばないこと
一、明治九年六月、前田利嗣君より華族会
館に出された由緒書に云う。父従三位前田慶寧、慶応二年
四月四日家督相続、明治元年正月十一日橋本関
門並びに北白川御固を仰せ付けられ、同年二月八日
御沙汰により鞍置馬七疋を献上、同月
三十日御親征の行幸がおありになり、御留守中は

feel shame and trepidation. Originally, suppressing rebellion and subjugating bandits is fundamentally the duty of a vassal,
so receiving words of praise is already beyond expectation, and furthermore to
be granted stipends is truly more than this person deserves. Particularly at this time when
national expenses are enormous, to continue accepting these grants
causes deep apprehension, so although it is most presumptuous,
we wish to return the stipend granted on this occasion as an internal petition, therefore we humbly request
that you present this matter to His Majesty. The above

The above was submitted on June 4th of the same year, whereupon on the 7th of the same month, the following
notation was issued:
The intent of the letter of resignation is deemed reasonable,
however, as the reward was granted out of His Majesty's profound appreciation for your meritorious service,
the matter of returning it shall not be subject to discussion.
One: In June of Meiji 9, from a genealogical record submitted by Lord Maeda Toshinao to the Peers' Club
Hall, it states: Father, Junior Third Rank Maeda Yoshiyasu, inherited the headship on
April 4th, Keio 2, and on January 11th, Meiji 1, was appointed to guard Hashimoto Barrier
and Kitashirakawa, and on February 8th of the same year,
by imperial order presented seven saddled horses, and on the 30th of the same month
during His Majesty's personal expedition and imperial progress, during his absence
