京師御警衛を仰せ付けられ、同年三月五日御親兵御取り立てにつき玄米七十万俵を献納、同年四月十五日松平肥後が官軍に抗したため薩長の人数が北陸道へ御指向になることにつき、北国筋の鎮圧を致すべき旨を仰せ渡され、同月二十八日北越出張の官軍御入費の方へ御沙汰により金十三万両を運輸、同年七月二十二日越後口御進軍の節、白米二万俵御用の旨を総督宮より御沙汰につき取り敢えず柏崎本営へ輸送《中略》
同二年六月二日、去夏北越の賊徒御征伐の頃出兵し、かつ朝命により金穀運輸等のため御賞典として禄高一万五千石を永世下賜の旨を御書取を以て仰せ渡された。
同四日、右御賞典の儀につき、方今御国費莫大の折柄恐縮に堪えず返上したき趣の内願をしたところ、御付札を以て賞典禄返上の儀は功労に叡感の余り褒賞を賜った趣につき御沙汰に及ばない旨を仰せ渡された云々
一、先にこれ、明治二年春二月、薩長土以下勤王に随った諸藩が追々藩土奉還の建言があったことにつき、前田家にも建言を致した。その写しは左の如し。
御一新後、藩地御改正の儀を仰せ出され、その節旧幕府より受封の判物を指し上げ置いたことについては、封土の与奪は朝議においてなさるべきものと存じます。

was appointed to guard the imperial capital, and on March 5th of the same year, in connection with the establishment of imperial troops,献納ed 700,000 bales of brown rice. On April 15th of the same year, as Matsudaira Higo resisted the imperial forces and Satsuma-Chōshū forces were directed toward the Hokuriku road, orders were issued to pacify the northern provinces. On the 28th of the same month, by imperial decree, 130,000 ryō in gold was transported for the expenses of imperial forces dispatched to Hokuetsu. On July 22nd of the same year, when advancing toward the Echigo front, 20,000 bales of white rice were needed by order of the Commander-in-Chief Prince, so they were urgently transported to Kashiwazaki headquarters. 《Abbreviated》
On June 2nd of the second year [Meiji 2], for deploying troops during last summer's subjugation of rebels in Hokuetsu and for transporting money and grain by imperial command, a reward stipend of 15,000 koku was granted in perpetuity, as announced through an official document.
On the 4th of the same month, regarding the aforementioned reward, feeling unbearable shame during these times of enormous national expenses, a petition was made to return it. However, through an official notation, it was declared that the matter of returning the reward stipend would not be subject to discussion, as it was granted out of profound imperial appreciation for meritorious service, etc.
One: Previously, in the spring of Meiji 2, February, as the domains of Satsuma, Chōshū, Tosa and other loyalist domains successively made proposals for the return of domain lands, the Maeda house also made such a proposal. A copy follows:
After the Restoration, when reforms of domain lands were announced, regarding the submission of the investiture documents received from the former shogunate, we believe that the granting and revocation of feudal lands should be decided by imperial council.
