現代語訳
このような苦難の中、近江国から伊賀、伊勢にかけて激しい揺れが起こり、志摩でも大変な状況となった。怪我人や死者が倒れ重なっている。山城国でも同様で、丘も河内も地が割れ、和泉、摂津、若狭から丹波にかけて、わずか22か国の範囲内で死者・負傷者の数は計り知れない。
名古屋市中で倒壊した家屋は2,585軒。煉瓦造りの建物は残らず崩れ落ち、粉々に砕けてしまった。その中で尾張名古屋の御櫓だけが瓦一枚も損じることなく無事だったのは、世にも珍しい今回の不思議な出来事である。やれやれ。
大地震口説き（下）
さても、地震の大荒れは美濃の岐阜県大垣あたりで、倒壊・焼失した家屋が6,000軒余り。なお死者の調べによると、およそ974人。その他に負傷者の数は計り知れない。
特に哀れなのは織物会社で、建物は三丁に三十間四方の煉瓦三階建てであった。役人74名と500余人の工女たちが共にいたところ、思いがけない地震だったので、「わっ」という間もなく
