**木茘枝（もくけいし）**（和俗・花戸）／**はまもち**（薩州）／**もちのき**（同名あり、伊豆熱海方言）／**へごばな**
四国の山中に多く自生すると言われる。樹形は冬青（もちのき）に似ており、葉もまた冬青に似て幅広く、両端がとがっている。梢（こずえ）の葉の間に、五弁の小さな白い花を開く。その形もまた冬青の花のようである。

**Mokukeishi** (common name used by florists/gardeners) / **Hamamouchi** (Satsuma Province) / **Mochinoki** (a shared name; also a dialect term from Atami in Izu Province) / **Hegobana**
This tree is said to grow abundantly in the mountains of Shikoku. Its form resembles that of the *Tōsei* (Chinese holly / *Ilex chinensis*), and its leaves likewise resemble those of the *Tōsei*, being broad and pointed at both ends. Small white flowers with five petals bloom among the leaves at the tips of the branches. Their form, too, is similar to the flowers of the *Tōsei*.
