葉の形なんてんに似（に）て細く長く
新葉より紅色を帯（お）ひて美（うつく）し花
の形もなんてんに同（おなし）くして莟（つほみ）紅色
開くときは淡紅（うすこう）となる実も又同
くして紅色（こうしよく）なり

葉の形は南天に似ており、細く長い。
新葉のころから紅色を帯びていて美しい。花の
形も南天と同じで、つぼみは紅色、
開くと淡紅色になる。実もまた同様に
紅色である。

A variety:
Kō-nanten (Red Nandina)
The shape of the leaves resembles that of nanten (Nandina domestica), being narrow and elongated.
From the time the new leaves emerge, they bear a red tinge and are beautiful. The shape of the flowers
is also the same as nanten; the buds are red,
and when they open, they become a pale red (light pink).
The berries, too, are likewise red.
