**Variety: Niwazakura (庭桜, Garden Cherry)**
Both the tree and its leaves resemble the *niwaume* (庭梅, garden plum). In spring, buds emerge from the base of the leaves. When the flowers open, they have several tens of petals, and their shape resembles that of a chrysanthemum flower. The blossoms are a pale red (light pink) color and are quite beautiful. Although the plant does occasionally bear fruit afterward, this is rare. When fruit is produced, its form is the same as that of *niwaume*.
