The name "fu'yō" (芙蓉) is also used to refer to the lotus (*Nelumbo nucifera*), and so this plant is distinguished from it by the name "moku-fu'yō" (木芙蓉, "tree fu'yō"). It is widely cultivated in people's gardens. In spring, new growth clusters from the old stems, reaching a height of over five or six shaku. The shape of the leaves resembles those of the grapevine, with coarse, large lobes. In autumn,
