一信州佐井川【犀川】之儀廿四日夜大地震之節ゟ流水留り
廿六日昼頃私共彼地出立之節迄一切通水無之是は
丹波島宿辺ゟ川上《割書：江｜》七八り行美濃路之橋迄刎橋有
之由右前後之辺山崩いたし佐井川をふさき候由ニて

ケ原と申所江水押開キ夫ゟ諏訪之湖水二入天之川へ
流水可致様と申居所々噂仕候得共多くハ崩れ
場所十分ニ水湛候ハゝ押切一時之大出水可致哉と計存候

その上出火で残らず焼失し、旅人その外即死人がおびただしいとのことでございますが、これも人数は分かりません。噂では即死人は二、三千人と申すことでございます。その他とても焼失した宿場や村々は自然と死人が多くあることと存じます。
一、信州犀川の件は、二十四日夜の大地震の時から流水が止まり、二十六日昼頃私どもがかの地を出立する時まで一切流水がありませんでした。これは丹波島宿辺りから川上へ七、八里行った美濃路の橋まで橋が跳ね上がったためで、その前後の辺りで山崩れが起こり犀川を塞いだためとのことです。

いつ、どこから出水するか計り難く、同川沿いはもちろん紙屋（製紙業者）のものどもは追々逃げ去りました。これにより往還道へは上田、松代等から役人が出張し、善光寺方面への往来を差し止めました。噂では犀川の場所の水が信州松本辺りで湖水のようになり、桔梗ヶ原という所へ水が押し開き、それから諏訪の湖水に入って天の川へ流水するだろうと申している所々の噂をいたしますが、多くは崩れた場所に十分に水が溜まれば、押し切って一時の大出水をするのではないかと計り存じる次第でございます。何としても犀川で急な、また々流家・亡所
