一四季の花を十二月に分けしといえども年の
春暖地の陰陽にて一様ならずまづ其時の
花を尋ね給はゞ其月と前の月後の月と
を一覧あるべし此三月のうちよりいけてよき
花を得る也これ時候によりて花に遅速
あれは当月ばかりにてはつくさゞるゆへ也
一花のつぼみにて用ると半開にて用るに
同月にあらざるは各其月へわかち出す
但し開くとは半開の事也花によりて
たまさか満開をも用ゆる事あれど多く
はつぼみか半開也
一前月の花の咲残りて用ゆべきは又各月
の名の下に書す但し普通の花のみしるす
一かきつばたなど二月より出るといへども風
呂にて賞する花なれば四月の部に出す
これも三月下旬風呂に上けてよりは
いけてくるしからず 水仙など秋より出れ
ども十月の開路よりいけべき花なれば
その月の所に出せり是も九月末に炉を

にもあらず花店にも常になく茶席にて
まれにいけしを図に出し則潅園師の画

一、四季の花を十二月に分けたとはいえ、年の春の暖かさや土地の陰陽によって一様ではない。まずその時の花を探す場合は、その月と前の月、後の月とを一覧するとよい。この三ヶ月のうちから活けてよい花を得ることができる。これは時候によって花に早咲き遅咲きがあるので、当月ばかりでは尽くせないからである。
一、花の蕾で用いるものと半開きで用いるものが同じ月でないものは、それぞれその月へ分けて記載する。
ただし「開く」とは半開きのことである。花によってはたまたま満開を用いることもあるが、多くは蕾か半開きである。
一、前月の花の咲き残りで用いることができるものは、また各月の名の下に記す。ただし一般的な花のみ記載する。
一、杜若などは二月より出るといっても、風呂（夏の茶室）で賞する花なので四月の部に記載する。これも三月下旬に風呂に上げてからは活けても差し支えない。水仙などは秋より出るが、十月の開炉より活けるべき花なので、その月の所に記載した。これも九月末に炉を

下ろせば活けてよい。これらのことは世間で承知していることだが、詳しく記すのである。
一、茶家が広く賞する花には上に●点を加える。その中でも特に賞するものは●の上に▲半点を添える。また大いに賞するものは●●重点を付ける。また無点の花であっても珍花は有点と同位の花もあるだろう。しかし茶家では無理に難しい花を求めず、たとえありふれた花であっても、茎葉が清らかで半開きに蕾が混じって美しいものを賞することが常の習いである。
一、この書は佳気園翁が集められたものを、私がまた岩崎潅園先生に請うて漢名を正し、削定補入した。しかし翁の以前の見解も残したものが多い。かつ草木には異名が多い。ここにはただ普通に言う所の名を記す。

1. Although the flowers of the four seasons are divided into twelve months, they are not uniform due to the warmth of spring each year and the yin-yang aspects of the land. First, when seeking flowers for a particular time, one should survey that month along with the previous and following months. From these three months, one can obtain flowers suitable for arrangement. This is because flowers bloom early or late depending on the season, so the current month alone is insufficient.
1. When flowers are used in bud form and half-open form in different months, they are separately categorized into their respective months.
However, "open" refers to half-open. Depending on the flower, full bloom may occasionally be used, but mostly buds or half-open flowers are preferred.
1. Flowers from the previous month that remain in bloom and can be used are also recorded under each month's name. However, only common flowers are noted.
1. Although kakitsubata (Japanese iris) appears from the second month, since it is a flower appreciated in the furo (summer tea room), it is listed in the fourth month section. From late third month when the furo is set up, it may be arranged without problem. Narcissus appears from autumn, but since it is a flower to be arranged from the opening of the hearth in the tenth month, it is listed in that month's section. This too may be arranged well if the hearth is lowered at the end of the ninth month.

1. Flowers widely appreciated by tea practitioners have a ● mark added above. Among these, those especially prized have a ▲ half-mark added above the ●. Those greatly prized have ●● double marks. Even unmarked flowers, if they are rare, may be equivalent to marked flowers. However, tea practitioners do not forcibly seek difficult flowers; even if they are common flowers, the custom is to appreciate those with clean stems and leaves, half-open with buds mixed in beautifully.
1. This book was compiled by the old master Kakien, and I further requested Master Iwasaki Kanken to correct the Chinese names and make deletions, revisions, and additions.
