現代語訳

禁廷で新たに刊行された輿図には、朝鮮・ハミ・ラサなどの属国の地図がすべて収められている。海外の藩封国も慣例としてその次に付け加えられるべきである。もし従来の荒唐無稽な記述のままで訂正しなければ、どうして聖朝の風化が遠くまで及び、外国が長く内地に心を向けていることを示すことができるだろうか。職方に付して甚だ盛事と称するためにも、記録を執る際には特に慎重を期した次第である。康熙60年歳次辛丑秋8月、翰林院編修臣徐葆光謹んで序す。

英語訳

The newly published maps from the Forbidden Court include all the maps of tributary states such as Korea, Hami, and Lhasa. Overseas feudal territories should customarily be added next in sequence. If we were to leave the previous absurd and false descriptions uncorrected, how could we demonstrate that the sagely dynasty's civilizing influence extends far and that foreign countries have long turned their hearts toward the interior? In order to attach this to the Ministry of War records and call it a great achievement, I was particularly cautious and careful when putting brush to paper. In the 60th year of Kangxi, cyclical year xinchou, autumn, eighth month, Imperial Academy Compiler, your subject Xu Baoguang respectfully writes this preface.
