《割註：臣》葆光按ずるに、封舟は夏至後に西南風に乗って琉球に往き、冬至後に東北風に乗って福州に帰る。これはその概要を言うものである。南風は和緩で北風は凛冽であるため、帰程は特に困難である。これは単に内外の水勢に順逆があるためだけではない。嘉靖・万暦の封舟が閩に帰るのは概ね冬至より先で、九・十月中で朔風がまだ勁くない時期である。帰帆は十一月・十二月が最も宜しい。冬至前後では風勢が日々勁くなり、波は必ず船上を越えるであろう。正月となれば風颶が最も多く、かつ期に応じない

[Marginal note: Minister] Baoguang observes that investiture ships travel to Ryukyu after the summer solstice riding the southwest winds, and return to Fuzhou after the winter solstice riding the northeast winds. This describes the general pattern. Southern winds are gentle and moderate while northern winds are harsh and severe, therefore the return journey is especially difficult. This is not merely due to favorable or adverse water currents. The Jiajing and Wanli period investiture ships returning to Fujian generally departed before the winter solstice, during the 9th and 10th months when the north winds were not yet strong. The most suitable time for the return voyage is the 11th and 12th months. Around the winter solstice the wind force increases daily, and waves will inevitably pass over the ship.
