一大判之儀元禄中吹直有之
古来之大判ゟ位劣候二付而
此度右吹直以前之大判之位ニ
吹改被 仰付之当十一月より
両替屋共相渡候間献上并
被下物其外之通用ニ者二月
朔日ゟ可用之事
但壱枚者金七両弐分之積り
たるへく候両替之もの共買入
候之節右分量不相減候様
いたし売出候時分も歩銀多ク
取へからす候此旨於令違犯者
僉義之上可為曲事事
一只今迄通用候元禄大判者
当十二月朔日ゟ一切通用停止之事
一元禄大判者当十二月ゟ潰金ニ
成候条所持之面々者後藤庄三郎
方江差越之潰金之割合を以
小判と可引替候尤貯置へ

但潰金之義者壱枚ニ付小判
四両弐分余之積りたるへき事
右之趣国々所々ニ至迄急度

現代語訳
覚え
一、大判の件について、元禄年間に吹き直しが行われたが、古来の大判より品位が劣っているため、この度右の吹き直し以前の大判の品位に吹き改めるよう仰せ付けられ、当年十一月より両替屋共に引き渡すので、献上並びに下賜物その他の通用には二月朔日より使用すること。
ただし一枚は金七両二分の積もりであるべきこと。両替業者が買い入れる際は右の分量を減らさないようにし、売り出す時分も歩銀を多く取ってはならない。この旨に違反する者は詮議の上、処罰すること。
一、今まで通用していた元禄大判は、当年十二月朔日より一切通用を停止すること。
一、元禄大判は当年十二月より潰金となるので、所持している人々は後藤庄三郎方へ持参し、潰金の割合をもって小判と引き替えること。なお貯蔵しておいてはならないこと。
ただし潰金については一枚につき小判四両二分余りの積もりであるべきこと。
右の趣旨は国々所々に至るまで厳重に遵守すべきものである。

Memorandum
Article 1: Regarding large gold coins (ōban), they were recast during the Genroku era, but as their quality was inferior to the ancient large gold coins, it has been ordered that they be recast to match the quality of large gold coins from before the aforementioned recasting. They will be distributed to money exchangers from the eleventh month of this year, and shall be used for tribute offerings, bestowed gifts, and other transactions from the first day of the second month.
However, one coin shall be valued at seven ryō and two bu of gold. When money exchangers purchase them, they must not reduce the said amount, and when selling them, they must not charge excessive handling fees in silver. Those who violate these instructions shall be investigated and punished.
Article 1: The Genroku large gold coins that have been in circulation until now shall cease to be legal tender entirely from the first day of the twelfth month of this year.
Article 1: Genroku large gold coins shall become scrap gold from the twelfth month of this year, so those who possess them shall bring them to Gotō Shōzaburō's establishment and exchange them for small gold coins (koban) at the scrap gold rate. They must not be stored away.
However, regarding scrap gold, one coin shall be valued at slightly over four ryō and two bu in small gold coins.
The above instructions must be strictly observed throughout all provinces and localities.
